So this is my new assemblage sculpture I started yesterday. I am really surprised at how quickly it is coming together. I really feel that my creative genius is hanging around at the moment because I have no idea where I get these ideas or how the hell i create what i create...but i don't question it, i just 'allow'. So with this work i am playing around with the body box and deciding what to put inside. I have been playing with several different compositions and as yet have not decided which way to go. Will leave it for a day or so and decide later. But wanted to share with you where it is now!

So I finally finished this sardine can assemblage today! This work has been in process for about 6 or so months and today I finally got it to a stage I could call it finished. I am really happy with the overall design - I like the complexity of the bottom area and the simplicity of the top section. The plastic grass was the last bit to go on and Ii think it just balances out the overall composition. It also adds a bit of nature to the piece. There isn't a real story to it. It is a shrine and it incorporates religious symbols which I love even though I am not religious. One of my main focuses for this piece was creating that sense of 'balance' and a sense of 'order'. So if you split it down the center each half is almost the same. So as we live in a pretty chaotic world having a shrine to look at which is balanced, evens things out so to speak, LOL. Also the top half is deliberately rather simple and uncluttered whereas the bottom half is busy so your eye keeps jumping up and down the shrine. The plastic grass at the top just give it that slight organic/ link to nature.
So many of you have asked about the magnetic LED's I use inside my assemblages. Well below you will find some images on the type I use. I purchased these (in Norway) from a cheap dollar store type shop! If your in Australia the equivalent would be either crazy clarks or Overflow. I think the images are pretty self explanatory! But if you have any questions, leave then as a comment to this blog. I looked up the website www.x-mile.com but i could not find anywhere online to purchase the lights. The website is not in English either unfortunately but I understand danish enough to know there was nothing about this product! Apparently you can purchase them from Amazon.com
